Bruce's Story From Rescue to Inspiration
Bruce
Bruce’s journey began in the most uncertain of circumstances. As a rescue puppy, he was found abandoned in an old building in San Bernardino County, California, at just six weeks old, weighing no more than 6 pounds.
From the very beginning, Bruce showed he was a determined and tenacious little dog. Even as a tiny pup, he had a strong spirit — so much so that he would throw his food bowl on the floor when he was ready to eat, demanding attention in his own way.
Within days of being rescued, Bruce fell gravely ill with parvovirus, a life-threatening disease. After six days in intensive care at the veterinary hospital, the prognosis was bleak. The vets told us there was little hope he would survive.
Not willing to let our new puppy spend his final days alone in a metal cage, we made the difficult decision to bring Bruce home and provide palliative care surrounded by love and family. For nearly 48 hours, we stayed awake with him, administering fluids and natural remedies, holding onto hope.
On the third day home, something incredible happened. Bruce awoke, a changed dog, filled with more energy and determination than ever before.
Though we don’t know his exact birthday, knowing he was born in the second week of February, his veterinary team chose February 14th as his official birthday, a tribute to the way he captured the hearts of everyone who cared for him.
Bruce has since become the inspiration and foundation of health for every dog in our family. His resilience reminds us daily of the power of love, proactive care, and never giving up.
